Frequently Asked Questions.

  • Kirre Ceramics is a handmade pottery studio based in Exeter, Devon, UK where our passion for clay is matched by a deep commitment to the environment. Our work draws from the natural world and we strive to minimise our ecological footprint, ensuring that our art honours and preserves the planet we love.

  • All of our pieces are hand-thrown on the potter’s wheel using durable stoneware clay. Each piece is then carefully trimmed and shaped before its first firing. Any decoration is meticulously applied by hand—whether painted with a brush or hand-carved—ensuring every item is truly one of a kind. Lastly, the pots are glazed and undergo a final firing to bring out their strength and beauty.

  • Part of the beauty of handmade pottery lies in its uniqueness and it deserves careful attention to keep its charm intact. To preserve the longevity of your pieces, we recommend gently hand washing them instead of using a dishwasher. Avoid soaking. After cleaning, allow each item to air dry completely before storing. Our pottery is not suitable for use in either the microwave or the oven.

  • We draw our inspiration from nature and care deeply about protecting the environment. To honour this commitment, we are constantly improving our practices to better safeguard the planet. All of our packaging is recyclable, and our cornstarch peanuts dissolve completely in water. Inside the studio, unfired clay is recycled to minimise waste, and our kilns are only fired when fully loaded to conserve energy. We also take care to preserve water whenever possible. We are always striving to do better and make a positive impact and we warmly encourage our customers to reuse our packaging whenever possible.

  • Sending ceramics through the post can be a delicate process that demands special attention. That's why we thoughtfully wrap each piece in protective beehive paper, gently cushioning every unique curve and detail. To further safeguard your pottery, we fill the box with biodegradable cornstarch packing peanuts, ensuring it travels securely while remaining environmentally friendly.

  • We ship all of our beautiful pottery pieces using Royal Mail Tracked 48, ensuring a reliable and secure delivery service for your order. We also choose Royal Mail due to their strong commitment to enhancing sustainability.

  • Unfortunately, at the moment, we are only able to post to the UK. However, we truly hope to expand our shipping services to include other countries in the future.

  • Please note that Kirre Ceramics is a small, artisan studio without a dedicated shipping department. We carefully handcraft and hand paint each unique piece, and we aim to dispatch all orders within one week of confirmation—often even sooner. Your patience is truly appreciated as we prepare your order with care. Once your item is securely packaged, it will be sent via Royal Mail Tracked 48 to ensure prompt and reliable delivery. Thank you for supporting our handmade creations.
