Our handmade pottery is not just for special occasions, but for making any occasion just that little bit more special.

Hello!

Thank you for your interest in Kirre Ceramics. Read on to find out a little more about who we are, what we do and how we got here.

My Work

I create pottery inspired by the soft, natural tones of nature. Focusing primarily on mugs and tableware, I love to create pieces which mix clean minimalist forms, with delicate, whimsical details. Every piece is crafted by hand on the potter’s wheel using durable stoneware. I never use transfers in my studio, all of my designs are individually hand painted, ensuring that each one is truly unique.

My Inspiration

My pottery is deeply inspired by my love of nature and the native flora and fauna that surround us. I also love to draw on ancient myths, legends, and folklore-history was my first love and being able to reflect that in my work is incredibly special to me. Finding peace and solace in nature’s quieter moments, I am especially drawn to the muted tones of autumn and winter and aspire to capture the serene beauty of these seasons in my work.

My Story

After spending more than a decade as a teacher, I found myself longing for a slower pace of life to spend more time with my growing family. My life was changed when I received a wonderful birthday gift: a pottery course at my local college, I loved it so much that I immediately enrolled again! From the moment I started throwing on the wheel, I fell in love with the whole process. I found peace and stillness in the intense focus that throwing required in those early days, and it swiftly became a way to escape the stresses of modern life. After years of practice working out of a community studio here in Devon, I began selling my pottery at local markets. Now, I am incredibly grateful that my handmade pieces are stocked in a number of stores across Devon, allowing me to share my love of this ancient craft with others.
